Whitecourt is located in the west-central region of the Province of Alberta some 177 kms. northwest of Edmonton. Located in a thriving resource area, Whitecourt and district has grown to almost 12,000 people, most of which work in the energy or forestry fields.

It is a young town with the average age of around 30, but the average household income is some 20% higher than the Alberta provincial average.  Whitecourt is a very active, dynamic town that will  continue to grow, especially with the opening of the new 75,000 sq. ft. Wal-Mart store in November 2004.  This complimented the Canadian Tire store giving residents  one more reason to stay in town to shop.  Oil activity continued to drive the economy though 2005 and 2006.
2007 saw continuation of the strong oil prices, helping push house prices double what they were 2 years previous.  Near the end of '07 oil was in the $90.00 range.  Despite some negative reaction to the Provincial Government's Royalty Review and a overall market correction in early October, 2007 will finish as the busiest year ever.
Recent new projects include the new Home Hardware 7 acre developement, a new Auto Mall, 2 sets of condominiums (55 units), 3 industrial shops and a new Hotel downtown.  There are still 2 residential subdivisions to come on board as well as more multi-family.  There was also a plan for rezoning of a previously empty 20 acres for Retail/Service Commercial being appled for.
RE/MAX has been part of Whitecourt since 1983 when a 2-man Independent office opened. After joining  RE/MAX in 1993 the company grew to 16 agents with a presence in Whitecourt, Fox Creek, Swan Hills, Mayerthorpe.
